“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of the darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6
Greetings Dear Family and Friends!
This has been an incredible year! Praise be to God that unlike any year before we are able to see that the gift of baby Jesus was not just a gift of salvation, but a gift of abundant life! Last December we shared with you the transformation the Lord has done in our lives through the discipleship we have received at Grace North Church. This year, despite the condition of the World, we have grasped firmly onto the Word of God and have seen the abundance flow!
At the beginning of the year we joined the congregation in asking the Lord for a “Word for the year” specific to each family and each member that would reveal the journey of growth He intended for each of us. The Lord spoke to us through a song by Steven Curtis Chapman called “See the Glory.” The song is based on Ephesians 1:17-19 NKJV:
“…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritancein the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power…”
This year, our family was called to “Wake up, and see the Glory!” We were convicted of underestimating God’s power and love for us and for being naïve to the covenant promise. He revealed to us how incomplete our understanding of Him was and the consequences we have seen because we neglected to know and use the authority He has granted us. He called us to; know Him, ask of Him and trust Him, just as He calls each of His children.
We are bursting to share a few snippets of the harvest with you!
Last September, the Lord told Tim a baby girl would be added to our family. We are pleased to announce the fulfilled promise with the addition of our “little Poiema” (See Greek for "workmanship" Eph 2:10), Lydia Julayne on 7/27/08! She is a delightful child and big brother, Brody has welcomed her with nurturing arms. The two of them are a joy to behold!
Tim was also moved to make a career change despite what seemed like difficult timing. We proudly announceTim was hired by the Phoenix Police Department (PPD) in June and was sworn as a Phoenix Police Officer on November 21st! This happened just in time. This summer the PPD initiated a two year hiring freeze and this Fall Tim’s previous employer began laying off staff and greatly reduced the compensation for his position. We could not have forseen these changes. The Lord directed our steps and has spared us from great hardship and replaced it with great blessing!
We have gained tremendous confidence in the Lord’s provision for us. Finances are never secure, but His provision is always sufficient. Our bodies are vulnerable and weak, but He gives strength and His healing is always effective. The journeys in life lead us to dangerous places and tasks, but His angels bear us up lest we dash our foot against a stone. Our minds fail, but He grants wisdom to all those who ask. Our faith is not always sure, but His promises are always true. We simply must know what the Word says, and believe it is true.
This Christmas we see the glory. Not just of the incarnate savior, not just the sacrifice that purchased our soul…we see the gifts of freedom, authority and abundance like never before. And there is so much more in store! We cannot wait to see what God has for 2009! Know we are claiming these gifts for you, our dear family and friends in the year ahead and always! May you have a glorious Christmas!
Love and Blessings,
Timothy, Cheyenne, Broderick and Lydia
